Friday was a bit exhausting since we had to wake up at 4 to leave at 4:45 to make sure we got to the plane on time. Annie and I grabbed some breakfast that totalled $30. The flight wasnt too bad. I slept most of the way. When we arrived in Cairns, the first thing we noticed was how hot it was. We were excited about getting to a beach. We hopped on a shuttle and rode to our hotel. It is called the Heritage Motel but it is definately the feinition of hotel. The staff was extremely helpful.
We went for lunch but ended up shopping along the way. Annie got a nice swimsuit and a great hat I expect she will wear alot. Lunch was a good deal, 10 dollar meal and pot of beer (8 ounce). We traveled to the much anticipated beach, only to find a sea of mud. We were devestated. The beach we couldnt wait to get to was a sea full of mud. We later asked about beaches and although they have them, they are a bit unsafe with crocodiles lruking around, and able to find their way into netted off areas.
We picked up some light groceries (GRAPES ARE SOO GOOD) and headed home to change for working out. The nearby gym had great equipment.
Finally annie and I went out for dinner. After wandering around for a while we settles on a palce called Raw Prawn. The food was a bit expensive but it was worth more than what we paid. We had phenomonal garlic bread, followed by a mind blasting coral trout with ruby grapefruit salsa. Finally we had a "Hop, Skip, Hump & Jump" which was Kangaroo, Crocodile, Camel, and Emu. (I've never seen a croc skip or a emu jump but that isnt important). It was paired with a sweet squash/potato mash and bok choy. The roo was delish, having a deep red flavor to it. The croc was suprisingly good as it tasted a bit like a less fibrous chicken breast. Kind of a cross between chicken tiny bit fish. The camel was meh. The emu was suprisingly good. It tasted a bit like a mix between turkey and beef.
To top off the evening we went to the night markets and looked at all the different stuff and got our picture taken with a snake.
Scuba tomorrow.
