First up I want to appologize for the lack of updates. I got really busy then really lazy. Now to the meat of it all.
White water rafting was unbelievable. it was 14 km of rafting down the Tully River. It took all day. It was raining but considering we were getting tossed around by 40-some different rapids, including many with a score of 4. The scoring system is kind of funny. 1 is ripples from a pebble getting tossed in. 6 is Angel Falls. Although it was really scary at times, our guide eased alot of the fear out of us. There were about 8 rafts, which were organized by the riders origins. Obviously we were the American group. Our group was the only group that didnt lose somebody along the way.
We stopped halfway for hot dogs and hamburgers, the rain really started getting to us about then, but once we got back into the boat and sloshing around we were fine. We went under a small waterfall. It was surprising how hard the water hits you. It wasn't painful but it was a continues weight like someone tossed a 40 pound blanket on you. I jumped off a giant rock with a group of other people and slapped my palms flat on the water on the way down. OUCH!
After may slides and falls and spins and tumbles we eventually made it to the calm bottom, where we had to all be sure to be inside in the rare occurance that crocs were swimming about, (yes they were quite serious). Then a long ride home and and nice restful sleep.
